INDUSER launches a new automatic packaging line for blueberries with technology adapted to the “Nature Bowl” format.

The sustained growth in blueberry consumption across European markets is driving a major transformation in fruit and vegetable handling, weighing, and packaging systems. Demand no longer focuses solely on production capacity: it also requires gentle product handling, reduced waste, weight accuracy, and flexibility to adapt to new packaging formats increasingly oriented toward the end consumer.

In this context, INDUSER, a company specialized in automatic solutions for weighing and packaging fresh produce, presents a new project specifically designed for the delicate handling of blueberries and adaptation to innovative formats such as the Nature Bowl cup.

Line designed for the new generation of fresh produce packaging formats

The project has been developed to handle different commercial presentations —or commodities, as they are commonly known in the industry— including 125 g, 150 g, and 300 g formats.

To achieve the required productivity levels, INDUSER has implemented a solution based on an associative weighing system integrated into a complete two double-line configuration, optimizing both performance and product utilization.

The installation reaches a production capacity of up to 240 punnets per minute —120 per line— equivalent to approximately 3,240 kg/hour of production.

This capacity allows producers to respond more quickly to the growing demand for blueberries while ensuring gentle fruit handling and high weighing accuracy aimed at minimizing losses and reducing product waste.

Flexibility for different packaging formats

One of the most relevant aspects of the project is its ability to adapt to different packaging formats without compromising production speed or stability.

The line incorporates an automatic punnet dispensing system designed to work with multiple configurations through the use of interchangeable magazines, accessories that allow quick format changes and adaptation to the needs of each customer or production campaign.

Particularly noteworthy in this installation are the new cardboard cups with “Nature Bowl” lids, a format that represents a significant technical challenge due to its light weight, geometry, and structural delicacy.

To ensure reliable and continuous handling, INDUSER integrates an automatic cup dispensing system together with vacuum suction technology, enabling precise container separation and ensuring stable feeding even under high-speed production conditions.

This flexibility allows producers to quickly adapt to new consumption and sustainability trends without the need to completely replace their packaging lines.

High-precision weighing system

The technological core of the installation lies in the associative weighing system developed by INDUSER.

The company offers different models of Circular Weighers with associative systems, adapted to various products and production capacities. In this specific project, the PC1405 model has been implemented, specially designed for delicate products and high-demand production environments.

The system hoppers automatically combine different product portions until the target weight is reached, achieving a precision with error margins of only 1 to 2 grams per package.

This accuracy not only improves process profitability, but also significantly reduces unnecessary overweight and optimizes product utilization.

To ensure optimal operation of the weigher, blueberry feeding must be homogeneous, continuous, and controlled, guaranteeing proper fruit distribution across the vibration system and preventing accumulations or damage during the process.

Safety and care throughout the entire process

In addition to production performance, the project places special emphasis on operational safety and product care.

INDUSER develops its lines under a philosophy in which automation does not replace the human component, but rather transforms the role of operators toward supervision, quality control, and production process management functions.

Automation considerably reduces repetitive manual tasks and enables the transition from mechanized processes to more efficient, safer, and quality-oriented production environments.

At a structural level, the line chassis has been redesigned and specifically adapted to minimize trapping risks and improve accessibility during maintenance and supervision operations.ç

Weight control and automatic package rejection

As part of its end-of-line solutions, INDUSER integrates different inspection and control technologies adapted to each project.

In this installation, the line incorporates an automatic weight control system whose function is to verify that all packages comply with the established standards.

Those punnets that fall outside the configured ranges are automatically diverted through an air valve system, which rejects the package into a specific collection drawer without interrupting the production flow.

These types of solutions help maintain high quality consistency and ensure compliance with commercial and regulatory market requirements.

Adaptable labeling for different configurations

The line also incorporates labeling modules prepared for top and bottom applications, allowing adaptation to different presentation and traceability requirements.

The integration of these systems enables flexible labeling configurations depending on the packaging format, logistics requirements, or the specific distribution demands of each customer.

Flexible technology for a constantly evolving industry

The evolution of the fresh produce sector requires solutions capable of quickly adapting to new products, formats, and production demands.

In this context, INDUSER’s competitive advantage lies in its ability to develop flexible and customized lines, supported by a wide range of weighers, packaging machines, and automatic systems designed to adapt to each customer’s specific needs.

From small delicate formats to high-capacity production, the company continues to focus on technologies that combine precision, efficiency, safety, and adaptability as fundamental pillars of modern fresh produce automation.
